A Life Sentence

"Please, Dora. Please don't kill me," she begged in a whisper, so that only I could hear.

My heart grew wings to hear such words. "Louder!" I pressed the blade to her throat and cut the skin under her jaw. "Beg them for your life, not me."

"No, Please!" She screamed. "I don't want to die!"

The Gerudo were hushed, and they glared at her with such disappointment even I felt her humility. "Trust me. Your death would bring me the greatest pleasure, but I obey my king, unlike you, you filthy harlot!" I smashed her face against the stone, snatched the shackles I dropped, and restrained her arms behind her back. I walked back to Ganondorf and bowed gracefully. "She's all yours. Thank you for the opportunity."

"It was my pleasure," he grinned, and stepped forward. From her knees, Nabooru stared up at him with regret, but also hate. "Treason, attempted murder, intent to murder, interfering with the training of a Gerudo warrior, disobeying direct orders, and countless other acts have led you to this moment," he recalled.

"I never tried to kill anyone."

"Ah, yes, I forgot cowardice. As punishment for your multitude of heinous crimes, I sentence you, and any who prove faithful to you after today, to banishment to the Spirit Temple, where you will spend the rest of your empty lives mindlessly serving me."

He held his arms out, up in front of his chest, and multiple dense, black orbs appeared between his hands. They sped away from him and collided with the two Gerudo in front of him, the traitors in the crowd who tried to fight back, and one struck Nabooru right in her heart. Before anyone could even breathe, all of them vanished.

I was overjoyed, relieved to have her out of my life forever. When Ganondorf turned around to leave the roof and return to his chambers, I suddenly hugged him. I had no idea what came over me. He reacted with confusion at first and couldn't hug me back. I pulled away when I realized what I did and stared at him in shock. He only grinned, with this knowing look in his eye, and patted my shoulder firmly when he continued to walk away. For months I cherished that one moment, because I thought it was going to be the only time we shared a small exchange of affection.

I wish I could say it was the last time I ever heard from Nabooru. We'll talk about that later on though.
